The Area
The peaceful village of Rogart is a small, remote highland village. This village is an ideal location for activities including hillwalking and bird watching, as well as offering spectacular hilltop views. Rogart railway station was built in 1868 and is still in operation being a request stop on the Far North line. Local services include primary school, various small shops and Pittentrail Inn. Rogart is approximately 11 miles from Lairg. Lairg is considered to be a hub for road transport in the north, as it has four roads which converge in the village, resulting in being dubbed 'The Crossroads of the North'. The Royal Burgh of Tain is the nearest town to Rogart, which is situated approximately 19 miles away. Tain offers several attractions such as Tain Tolbooth and St Duthus Collegiate Church and also boasts a local history museum, Tain Through Time, and the Glenmorangie Distillery. The town has all four major banks, a medical practice, Lidl, Co-op, ASDA, a variety of local shops and hotels, two primary schools and Tain Royal Academy being the secondary school.
