10 tips to renovate your bathroom

When you’re selling or renting your home, there’s one room where both buyers and tenants look very carefully, the bathroom.

If your bathroom is old, it might be best to bite the bullet and go for a refit. Here are our tips on improvements you should consider:

  1. As much as you might like the aubergine bathroom suite, chances are, your tenants won’t! Refresh and update with a contemporary white suite.
  2. Consider replacing the old bathtub with a shower.  It takes up less space, consumes less water and it’s more practical.  But be mindful of your target market, families will be looking for a bath, where young professionals will be looking for a shower.
  3. Renew the tiles and use different colours and textures. Again keep in neutral and contemporary so your buyer or tenant can add their own touches.
  4. Make the bathroom look bigger with the use of a large mirror and some smaller ones as decoration.
  5. If you have built in storage, consider putting this under the sink to give you even more space.
  6. Don’t under-estimate the power of a towel! New large fluffy towels in accent colours can really set off a new bathroom and create a warm, stylish look.
  7. Keep the clean contemporary feel with stylish soap and hand cream dispensers.
  8. Set the scene for your buyers or tenants. If you have bathtub, add some candles to the room to create a sense to pure relaxation.
  9. Don’t forget the perfect lighting! Consider LED and low energy bulbs, and lights above the mirrors.
  10. Make sure it’s smelling of roses! Think automatic air fresheners and scented candles.
