Masterplan unveiled for Victoria Infirmary

Masterplan

Glasgow southsiders can finally see the masterplan for the former Victoria Infirmary site at Langside. Following a lengthy community consultation period, plans developed by Glasgow-based Collective Architecture on behalf of Sanctuary Homes, have now been submitted, along with planning and listed building applications, to create 413 new flats with additional offices and retail units, on the landmark site.

Sanctuary’s proposals retain the iconic Nightingale Pavilions on Battlefield Road and include an improved pedestrian route through the site to Queen’s Park. Around 310 of flats will be for sale – and are likely to be snapped up off-plan, given public sentiment over this historic site – with the remainder allocated for affordable housing, subject to Glasgow City Council grant approval. Peter Martin, Sanctuary’s group director for development, comments: “We have taken account of the views and comments from more than 600 members of the public who attended the six community consultation events earlier in the year.”
