THEIR names evoke colourful landscapes, but you don’t have to travel quite as far as the Outer Hebrides to appreciate Eriskay and Lewis. The islands are the inspiration for two of Bellway Homes’ two new showhomes at their Bowfield development in Penilee.
A range of house designs at Bowfield reflect today’s chic style of living. Each home has been specifically planned to offer comfortable accommodation that makes a superb use of space throughout. In comparison to the muted tones and soft furnishings of the Eriskay, the Lewis showhome is a display of Hebridean inspired vibrant colours.
The bay window in the lounge floods the room with light, while the mushroom coloured sofas are livened with a scattering of striped red and cream cushions. Red is very much the accent colour in the lounge, from the striking canvases that adorn two of the walls to the red border of the white curtains. The mushroom wallpaper with a hint of silver on the feature wall contrasts with the simple lines of the contemporary sideboard.
Red continues in the dining room, which evokes a Japanese style. A block of crimson textured wallpaper with gold flower motifs adds vibrancy and is matched by a gold pelmet with red flowers. The black moleskin dining chairs and round glass table further add to the elegance of this room.
The dining room benefits from access to the rear garden, which again evokes images of the Far East, as it is filled with a range of lush bamboo plants and crushed slate pathways.
The soft beech units and granite effect work surfaces in the kitchen make this an enjoyable space to cook and prepare meals in. As with the Eriskay, the Lewis features stainless steel appliances, including chrome fittings and fixtures, and matt silver rectangular wall tiles.
Three well planned bedrooms also make the Lewis suitable for a growing family. In this home the colour influence is very much summer fruits. Cool cerise and sorbet pink are used throughout the second bedroom, while lime, cream, fuchsia pink and orange feature in the third bedroom, complete with a psychedelic border against white walls. This bedroom also boasts French doors that open on to a Parisianstyle balcony.
However, the master bedroom with en-suite is more languid, as its mix of soft lavender, creams and greys creates the ideal atmosphere to relax in.
Fraser Conn, sales and marketing director, Bellway Homes, said: “Since we started work on the development just under a year ago, we have dramatically transformed the site from the previous uninhabitable tenement buildings to an extension of Penilee’s vibrant community. “Bowfield has been warmly received by local buyers and has also encouraged those from outwith the area to consider this locality as a viable option. With the opening of the new showhomes, we are certain that this positive response will increase further.”
Bowfield is located off Hillington Road and offers an extensive range of properties from two-bedroom mid terraces to four-bedroom detached villas. The area offers easy access to all major road networks making it an ideal commute to the city centre, which is less than a 15-minute drive away.
The surrounding area provides a range of leisure amenities including Braehead Shopping Centre and the recently opened Xscape, which provides an indoors snow slope, multiplex cinema, rock climbing centre and aerial adventure course.
Prices are currently released at Bowfield from £104,995. For further information on the development, or to visit the Eriskay and Lewis show homes, please contact the marketing suite, open daily from 10am to 5pm, on 0141 882 7874.
