Templeland Cottage is situated in a delightful rolling countryside just off the Muirkirk Road and close by the Lanarkshire market town of Strathaven. The town is about 7 miles to the north and provides an excellent selection of local amenities including specialists shops and secondary education at Strathaven Academy. Primary school education is available at Gilmourton Primary about 3.5 miles away.
The nearby towns are Hamilton, 15 miles, and Kilmarnock 18 miles, which provide a further fuller range of shops, amenities and professional services.
Glasgow City Centre, 30 miles, is easily accessible via the M74 and as with most international cities has an extensive range of retail and higher education, leisure and professional services.
For the outdoor enthusiast this area provides a wealth of activities. Directly from Templeland Cottage there is access to extensive opportunities for equestrian hacking and walking in the surrounding countryside. There are local golf courses at Strathaven and East Kilbride or Championship courses at Turnberry and Troon, which are within easy travelling distance.
There are a number of leisure facilities in the area as well as game sporting opportunities locally.
Nearby there is 4 x 4 and motorcross track. Fishing is also available by permit on the surrounding rivers and reservoirs.
Description
Templeland Cottage is a charming cottage style house of white painted rough render finish. The house is well finished and laid out over two light and bright and easily run levels.
The main entrance hall leads to a sitting room and useful living room before reaching an open plan dining room again open plan to well equiped and easily worked kitchen with breakfast bar and French doors which lead to the deck and gardens at rear.
An inner hallway leads to the utility room, a boot room and doorway to rear gardens. Off the rear hall is a bathroom and bedrooms 1 & 2. The master has an en suite shower room.
The staircase to the first floor is at the rear of the living room and leads to bedroom 3 and an open plan study/home office, could be 4th bedroom.

Templeland Cottage is set in about 8 acres land, comprising a number of fenced paddocks, a driveway leads through a copse of trees and to a gravel sweep in front of the house. There all well stocked beds and borders and at the rear is an enclosed patio, mature lawn with dry stone retaining walls and a generous deck area from which there is direct access from the kitchen.
The grounds feature an illuminated 25m x 40m all weather manège.
Travel Directions
Leave the M74 at junction 8 and take the A71 at the Stonehouse roundabout signposted for Strathaven. Continue through Strathaven and prior to leaving the town take the B743 signposted to Muirkirk at the mini roundabout. Continue along the B743 for about 7 miles, the entrance to Templeland Cottage is on the right hand side amidst a copse of trees and identified by a timber post and rail entrance fence. |
