Convinth Cottage is located in Convinth Glen in a rural setting beside the A833 road that runs between Beauly and Drumnadrochit. The village of Kiltarlity is about 1.50 miles to the north.
Convinth Cottage is a single storey detached cottage beside which is the former Smithy building. The Cottage has easterly westerly views up and down Convinth Glen. Constructed mainly from stone walls which have been rendered and painted white, the roof is partly of felt tiles and partly of profile metal sheeting. Internally a feature of the Cottage are the pine lined walls and ceilings, traditional fireplaces of which one has a multi-fuel stove and a small modernised kitchen. There are timber framed double glazed windows.
The Smithy
Standing just a few metres to the north east of the Cottage is the former Convinth Smithy. Soundly built from local stone and with a pitched corrugated iron roof on timber trusses, the building has been previously used as a pottery and studio. Subject to the necessary local authority consents, it is possible for the Cottage and Smithy to be joined together to make one very comfortable house and for the principal living rooms to look out on to a sheltered courtyard between the two buildings. There s a Workshop about 6.37m x 3.98m with timber work benches and there are electric light fittings and power points and a cobbled stone floor. Adjacent is the Office/Studio 6.27m x 3.99m with electric light and power points and partial timber floor.
