Something that will strike a chord with many reading this – Bank of Scotland’s latest How Scotland Lives research underlines the extent to which parents feel under pressure to help their children financially, whether to help pay university or higher education costs, repay debt, or help with the costs of buying a first home.

In the case of the latter, a fifth of parents believe their children will need substantial financial support for them to ever be able to buy their own home – and a quarter or more think it the new norm that their children’s generation will never buy their own home.

This surely highlights the need for a significant increase in building, coupled with a closer look at some of the new and innovative construction methods available that could be ideal for first time buyers.
