This church conversion is worthy of praise on the Black Isle, writes Beverley Brown
I LOVE a good conversion and the Tower House at Avoch, on the Black Isle coast in Ross-shire, is certainly that.
Situated close to a sandy beach and harbour and just 11 miles from Inverness, the semi-detached property forms part of a handsome B-listed converted church that retains many fine original features.
It also has a quirky layout over three levels that include an amazing 31ft double-height ground floor living room, together with a dining room, fitted kitchen and shower room.
Occupying the mezzanine level above the living room, are two bedrooms and a bathroom – but saving the best for the top floor, a 34ft sitting room where the focal feature is not a fireplace but an enormous, vibrantly coloured stained glass rose window adds that wow factor.
One of only two properties created when the church was converted, Tower House’s sheltered garden grounds incorporate a parking area at the front and a rear garden with a flagstone patio, lawns, raised vegetable beds and trellis archways.
Offers over £250,000 are invited by CKD Galbraith’s Inverness office.
