Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has secured detailed planning consent from South Lanarkshire Council for 486 new homes in East Kilbride.
Providing a great choice of family homes will be a priority for the company, as will a commitment to enhance the local environment, and the creation of affordable homes.
The 61-acre site off Shields Road at Benthall Farm is allocated for housing in the South Lanarkshire Local Development Plan, and will allow Taylor Wimpey West Scotland the opportunity to deliver a range of new homes with a choice of three bedroom semi-detached, as well as three and four bedroom detached homes in a range of styles.
The development will also include a play area, as well as substantial open recreational space for the general enjoyment of the community. There is also an agreement in place with South Lanarkshire Council to provide a total of 124 affordable homes, 62 of which will be in the Benthall Farm development.
As part of the agreement, Taylor Wimpey West Scotland will make contributions of approximately £3.4 million towards education, community and off-site road infrastructure upgrades.
As well as homes, the Benthall Farm development will provide a range of economic benefits for the local East Kilbride area that includes supporting around 40 jobs per year of construction.
David Blair, major projects director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: "We are delighted to confirm that detailed planning consent has been granted for our development of new homes off Shields Road at Benthall Farm in East Kilbride. This consent will allow us to bring forward a development that offers buyers a great choice of new homes.
"This planning consent also marks our ongoing commitment, investment and strong track record of delivering excellent quality developments of family homes in South Lanarkshire, and it follows the successful launch of our Annsfield Farm development in Hamilton earlier this year and our on-going delivery of the Community Growth Area at Newton, Cambuslang."
A programme of significant pre-construction works is due to start on-site in early 2017. It is anticipated that work on the range of three and four bedroom family homes will begin in the spring of next year, with the first new homes targeted to go on sale as early as summer 2017.
