CloseAbout SMS text alerts

Our SMS service means you can receive details of the latest properties the minute they're placed on s1homes wherever you are.

You're in control. You decide exactly what type of properties you want to be alerted about and set limits on how many alerts you get each week. You can change your settings at any time.

Our SMS alerts cost 10p-12p each. This is the lowest available rate in the UK and only covers the cost of sending each message - we do not intend to make a profit from this service.

Each alert includes brief property details plus a link to our mobile site. Follow the link for a complete listing including contact details and photographs where appropriate.

We take your security seriously. Before sending you any billed messages we send you a free 'confirmation code'. This code must be entered on the site to prove you have access to the phone. That way nobody else will be able to sign you up for SMS alerts you didn't ask for.

If you have any questions about our service please contact servicedesk@s1homes.com

CloseAbout RSS feeds

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It's a really easy way to get instant alerts straight to your desktop, and doesn't require access to your email account.

Why is it a good idea for me?
We now provide access to your stored searches via RSS as well as the traditional email format. Whereas email alerts are sent at most once per day, RSS feeds are constantly updated throughout the day - you'll find out about new properties within minutes of them being advertised.

Fantastic! How do I get it?
If you're able to install software yourself and there's not an IT department stopping you, then it's really simple! Select a 'news reader' from our recommended software list and install one of them following their instructions. If you're using the Firefox browser, you've already got an RSS reader built in!

A further plot of land adjacent to the B862 with separate access also has potential for development subject to the relevant planning consents.

Lot 1 - Laggan House
Laggan House was built in 1998 to a classical design by Robert Adam of Robert Adam Architects. The property received from the Daily Telegraph a highly commended Homebuilding Award in 1998.

The house stands in a prominent position within its own grounds and internally the house is laid out making good use of space and light. The connecting drawing room and sitting room make a good entertaining area.

The house is built of a single block external wall with a double block inner wall supporting bison floor beams, which allow blockwork partitions throughout the house making for a high sound insulation and fire protection.
The exterior is harled and has a roof made from old Scottish slates. The pediment and porch are carved from Hopeman stone. The property is double glazed throughout and exceptionally well insulated.

The house is approached by a hardcore drive which passes the Courtyard Cottages and ends in a gravel sweep at the front door.

The interior of the house is impressive and full of character with an abundance of period features, such as original Georgian fireplaces being used in the reception rooms.

On the ground floor many of the rooms are dual aspect and the large drawing room is a wonderful reception room with an open fire with marble and an antique French wood surround and double doors leading to the sitting room. French windows lead on to a covered veranda from the drawing room and dining room.

The kitchen fitted with old pitch pine flooring, has purpose built kitchen units. There is a 4 oven oil-fired aga and space for family dining. From the kitchen a door leads to the utility room, domestic offices and a hatch leading down to a wine cellar. There is a side door and a connecting door to the integral garage. A door from the garage gives access to a separate wc and basin.

In the front hall an attractive wide staircase with wreathed mahogany handrail leads to the first floor where there is a large landing with doors off to the master bedroom suite, dressing room and bathroom. There are 3 further bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

The second floor is accessed from a staircase off the anding and is currently laid out as a boxroom with further storage space.

Lot 2 - Courtyard Cottages
Halfway up the drive is a traditional U-shaped
courtyard constructed of stone under a slate roof and divided into 3 separate dwellings. The property could easily be adapted to a different configuration but at present it is divided as follows:

Caretaker’s Cottage — has an open plan sitting room and kitchen with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom.

Steading Cottage — has a sitting room, dining room, kitchen, utility room, 3 bedrooms and a bathroom.

Bothy Cottage — former coachhouse has a large sitting room/games room, a bedroom, a bathroom and a kitchen.

The inner courtyard of the property is partially
gravelled and has the potential to create a courtyard garden.

Lot 3 – Building Plot
Adjacent to the Courtyard Cottages is a large industrial shed/workshop with a concrete standing and which is presently used for storing garden machinery, logs and garaging. It is thought that planning permission could be obtained to build a residential dwelling on this site subject to the necessary planning consents.

To the south of the shed is a plot of land which has detailed planning permission for the construction of a 1 1/2 storey house with, on the ground floor, kitchen, utility room, sitting room and on the first floor 3 bedrooms (1 en suite) and a family bathroom. With an integral garage and stores.

Adjacent to the B862 is a further plot of land which also has potential for development subject to the necessary planning consents. There is the right of way to give access from the driveway to this plot.

To the west of the house is an all-weather tennis court and on the south side of the house is a sunny paved terrace with 2 areas of formal box hedging. The terrace is bordered with attractive balustrading which is covered in various clematis.

Steps down to the garden gives access to areas of lawn with a border planted with roses, lillies, rhododendrons and herbaceous plants.

The west side of the house has a veranda covered in wisteria.

The grounds have many azaleas which are scented in the spring and give good autumn colour. The house is surrounded by exceptional specimen trees such as maples, birches, beech and fir many which have been planted during the 40 years the owners have lived at Laggan.
