The monthly UK House Price Index from Registers of Scotland (RoS) shows the average home price in November was £145,992, a 3.6 per cent increase on the same month the previous year and 1.1 per cent up compared to the previous month. Sales volumes decreased 2.5 per cent year-on-year in September 2017 in the context of greater decreases across the rest of the UK; the cumulative volume of sales for Scotland in the financial year to date (April to September 2017) was 54,983, an increase of 9.1 per cent on 2016. The top five local authorities in terms of sales in September last year were Edinburgh, Glasgow, Fife, South Lanarkshire and North Lanarkshire. The biggest price increases were in West Dunbartonshire, East Lothian and the City of Edinburgh, (pictured), while the biggest decreases were recorded in Aberdeen City and Argyll and Bute.
